Regular releases would degrade Grand Theft Auto franchise, says Take-Two

The publisher said that the Grand Theft Auto franchise would be harmed if a new game would come out every two years.

Take-Two chief operating officer Karl Slatoff  said: “Often times people ask us ‘Why don’t you come out with Grand Theft Auto every two years?’ To us, that doesn’t make sense, because Grand Theft Auto, every single time it comes out, is a brand new experience. You can’t possibly do that in two years. And if we did that, our product would fatigue and the franchise would degrade from a value perspective.”

Grand Theft Auto, developed by Rockstar games, is one of the industry’s best-selling franchises. Grand Theft Auto 4 sold over 25 million copies worldwide - it was released in 2008.
