Battlefield Portal lets players create their own battlefield. It is essentially a sandbox that allows you to customize the game's settings. The integrated logic editor makes it possible to share your creation with the community. Portal is available to everyone with an EA account. You don't need a copy of Battlefield 2042 to create a custom Portal experience.
“Battlefield Portal is truly a love letter to our passionate and long-time fans,” said Justin Wiebe, senior design director at Ripple Effect Studios. “We’ve created a set of tools that really gives the community the chance to create their own signature Battlefield experiences, while also bringing back these iconic Battlefield classics for our veteran players to revel in and our new players to experience for the first time.”Here are some examples of what is possible with Battlefield Portal. You can reduce or increase the player size, you can choose maps, vehicles, and loadouts, you can pit soldiers from 1942 against soldiers from 2042 or you can even equip one team with just defibrillators while the other team only has knifes. Or all players are only allowed to use sniper rifles. Or you have to fight against 20 EOD bots as a tank and much more... Almost everything is possible with this new game mode.
All maps will support Battlefield 2042's larger player count, namely128 players, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC while 64 players are still the maximum on PS4 and Xbox One. Portal also supports Battlefield 2042's cross-platform play.
Battlefield Portal therefore also offers elements of previous games. This is an overview of the assets that will be available at launch. More content will be added with each new season of the battle pass.
