Dead Space 3 announced at E3 2012 with trailers and screens

EA and Visceral Games have announced Dead Space 3 for a release in February 2013.

Isaac Clark is still the protagonist of the game, but the screens show a second person, called John Carver, fighting alongside him. EA announced that there will be a drop in, drop out co-op mode for the game. The game will also feature a new cover system and co-op combat.

While there will be co-op mode for Dead Space 3, there is no competitive multiplayer, according to EA. Co-op will include new cutscenes and interactions which are not included in the singleplayer story. Visceral Games said that “you’ll hear everything you need to hear to get the whole story” even if you choose to play alone.

There are universal pickups for ammo in the game world and new Necromorph enemies like Fodder, Feeders and the Snow Beast as well as the very big Nexus. Feeders are described by the developer as “what happens when a human isn’t actually infected by a Swarm or by a Divider head but by necessity ends up eating the flesh of a turned necro”. The Fodder can transform into two different Necromorphs.

The game will also be not as linear as the first two games, so there will be large environments and “unique beta missions” which are more like side missions.
