Dead Space 3 could feature drop-in, drop-out co-op

The next Dead Space game might include a co-operative multiplayer mode, according to different sources.

Sources claim that Dead Space 3 will include a coop mode for the first time in the series.

The story of Dead Space 3 is nearly identical in the single-player mode or the co-operative mode. But in the coop mode there are two survivors of a crash, Isaac and his companion. Players can solve puzzles and fight against enemies while sharing weapons and ammo and healing each other but the other player cannot be revived. Failure sends the players back to the last checkpoint.

Isaac struggles with the rumoured psychological problems although he is not alone. Maybe Isaacs companion is imaginary because the coop mode is drop-in, drop-out compatible. The gameplay of the game has moved on. Isaac can crouch to take cover and roll to avoid and escape attacks. Telekenisis plays also a big role which allows players to rotate objects. Weapons were modified with new fire modes, the Plasma Cutter has a knockback effect on secondary fire and the Pulse Rifle can fire saw-blades.

There will be hostile human forces for the first time as well as environmental hazards on the battlefield. These are all rumours, there is no confirmation from EA or Visceral Games.
