Assassin’s Creed 3 might achieve pre-order record, no setting for a female assassin

Ubisoft said that the games' setting is bad for female characters and that the upcoming title might be “the highest pre-ordered game” in Ubisoft history.

Creative director Alex Hutchinson said that there is no possibility of a female assassin in the setting of Assassin’s Creed III. Chances are bad that there will ever be a female lead character in an Assassins Creed game.

“It’s always up in the air. I think lots of people want it. In this period it’s been a bit of a pain. The history of the American Revolution is the history of men,” he said.

“There are a few people, like John Adams’ wife. They tried very hard in the TV series to not make it look like a bunch of dudes, but it really is a bunch of dudes. It felt like, if you had all these men in every scene and [a female assassin is] secretly, stealthily in crowds of dudes, it starts to feel kind of wrong. People would stop believing it,” Hutchison told Kotaku.com.

Although there will be no female lead there are and were female characters in the game who play an important role more or less.

Ubisoft announced that AC3 is on track of becoming “the highest pre-ordered game” in the history of Ubisoft. The game is available for pre-order for three weeks and the pre-order figures are “higher than any previous Assassin’s Creed game in the same time period”. The total amount is ten-times higher than the amount of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations in the same time period. In addition AC3 has reached the pre-order numbers of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
