No moral choices in God of War: Ascension

 
Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has explained why player-defined moral choices wasn’t an option although the studio wants to depict the human side of Kratos.



 

Game director Todd Pappy explains why moral choices would not have worked in the game. “It’s more an emotional story-telling. We want to show Kratos in a little bit of a different light, show a little more of his human side, and that’s what we’ve focused on. It is a linear adventure, so when you start introducing moral choices – especially with Kratos – fans aren’t going to get those moral choices. They’d smash [enemies] and they’d go away.”
