Sony announced that Kratos will be different than from what he was in the last games.
Todd Papy, director of the developer Sony Santa Monica, said Kratos will be more “likable” in the game than he was in the previous games. Kratos is still a “ruthless” spartan but this time around the player will be able to relate to him.
“And that was something I wanted to get across,” said Papy, who thinks that Kratos was an “asshole” in God of War 3. “The whole idea behind the story is more, ‘how do you undo selling your soul to the devil?’ In essence, that is the question that we are answering in this story. Where does Kratos pick up roughly six months to a year after he killed his wife and kid? What’s his mental state? It’s not a very pleasant one.”
