Grand Theft Auto 5 releasing 2012 because of Bioshock Infinite's delay?

Analysts now believe that the next GTA game releases this year because Infinite was delayed and will be available in 2013.

Analysts assume that Grand Theft Auto 5 could be released this year instead of next year because of the delay of Bioshock Infinite. Wedbush Securities said that BioShock Infinite’s delay “opens the window for Grand Theft Auto V to be released in October 2012”. The analysts also said that a release in October 2012 may be possible as this the month in which many GTA games have been released by Rockstar.

Analysts also speculate that Bioshock Infinite was delayed because Rockstar Games is now ready for the release of the next GTA by October. So publisher Take-Two gave Irrational Games the “option to spend more time fine-tuning BioShock Infinite”.

“Although we were confident that both games would sell millions of units when it appeared that they would be released in close proximity, we think that the delay will alleviate any wallet-share concerns and ensure that both games receive the undivided attention of Take-Two’s management and marketing teams, and will ensure that retail support is optimized,” the Wedbush analysts said.

GTA V is expected to release 18 million units, according to the analysts and Take-Two might share more news about GTA 5 by May 22 2012 when the publisher provides its Q4 FY12 results. Rockstar might also present the game at the E3 convention in L.A. next month. “If there is no update on either date, we believe it is unlikely that GTA V will launch this calendar year.”
