Here are the features Ubisoft cut from the final game.
Like with every other video game there are features that will be dropped during development. As for Assassins Creed 3 there were some features that Ubisoft took out of the game.
Philadelphia had been one of the destinations like New York and Boston but it was cut because it didn't fit to the game. The team realised that the wide, straight streets of Philadelphia did not work with the open-world setting. But some events will take place in the city. “Philly was one of the cities that we wanted to do. In the end, we decided against it. It’s an architecturally designed city, so it’s on a grid. Which at first we thought would be cool – the first city in AC to be designed on a grid,” creative director Alex Hutchinson said.
On the internet was also an animation of Connor scalping a British soldier. As this was a real historical practice that would have fitted to the game, it was left out because it was to brutal. It is described as “incredibly powerful, complete with a stomach-churning sound effect which really hit home”.
There are also some details that there had been a harpoon-like weapon which was then turned into a rope dart. This feature was dropped because it provided too much fantasy, as Hutchinson said.
