There will be three expansion packs for the DICE shooter, releasing in the second half of 2012.
EA’s announced three new multiplayer expansions for Battlefield 3 which will be released from June until winter 2012.
The first pack is known as Close Quarters. It focuses on close quarters combat and includes new weapons, dog tags and assignments. It releases in June. The second pack is Armored Kill which is more vehicle-centric with new tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery including “the biggest map in Battlefield history”. It releases in autumn. The final expansion is End Game which will release in winter.
“Instead of delivering piecemeal map packs, we’re giving players a completely new experience with every themed expansion pack to keep the action fresh,” said Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Bach from DICE. “Our expansions are designed to excite our large and active fan base while attracting new recruits with gameplay that is dynamic and unpredictable every time.”
