IO Interactive announced that player choice regarding gameplay style plays a big role in the upcoming game.
Game director Christian Elverdam from developer IO Interactive said that there will be two different ways to play Hitman: Absolution. Players can choose between a more aggressive gameplay and stealthy gameplay. Players that take the more stealthy more can turn off the Instinct Meter to adapt the game to ones own playing style.
“The first thing is, if you don’t like it you can turn it off,” he said in an interview. “But we’re getting feedback from user sessions, even people who have played all our games, and they actually like Instinct. It has less of an impact when you play it than you think; it just removes one layer of thought and puts it onto the game, so you’re looking at what’s going on right now, instead of thinking about other stuff.”
IO Interactive tried to balance player freedom and the cinematic storyline so that it is accessible for every player, according to Elverdam.
