EA hat jetzt angekündigt, dass die Multiplayer-Beta des Shooters am 29.09.2011 startet. Besitzer von Medal of Honour und die Spieler, die die digitale PC-Version bei Origin vorbestellt haben, erhalten schon am 27.09.2011 zutritt. Spielbar sein wird die Map Operation Metro in Paris im Rush Modus. Man erhält zusätzlich Zugang zum Battlelog-Service. Enden wird die Beta am 10.10.2011, kurz vor dem Release von Battlefield 3 am 28.10.2011.
Electronic Arts hatte vor kurzem enthüllt, dass es 1, 25 Mio. Vorbesteller von Battlefield 3 gibt. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia sagte jetzt, dass es mittlerweile 1,5 Mio. Vorbesteller sind. “Management remains optimistic that the title has potential to exceed sales of its predecessor, which has sold through 9.5 million units life-to-date. Critical ratings for BF3 should be at least 80. The combined marketing dollars for BF3 and Call of Duty: MW 3 could reach $100 million this year. The two week head start for BF3 versus CoD will facilitate a big launch for BF3. Once CoD launches, there would be a natural slowdown in sales of BF3. Then, at holiday, momentum for BF3 should rebuild.”
Bhatia erklärte, dass DLCs nach dem Release eine sehr große Auswirkung haben und dass die Back to Karkland Map schon sehr viele Vorbesteller angezogen hat. “This $15 to $20 value should be a big incentive for customers to pre-order BF3. The mix of BF3 should be 60 percent US and 40 percent international,” so Bhatia.
